How to Download SoundCloud Tracks to Rekordbox
If you upload your own mixes or demos to SoundCloud and later want them in your Rekordbox library — or you have tracks released under a Creative Commons licence — getting them into Rekordbox at the right quality takes a few specific steps. This guide covers the whole process.
Why the Format You Choose Matters for Rekordbox
Rekordbox analyses every track for waveform, BPM, and key. The quality of that analysis depends on the source file:
- WAV or FLAC — gives Rekordbox the highest-quality source for analysis. No re-encoding artefacts. Preferred for performance use.
- MP3 320kbps — acceptable for most DJ sets. Compression artefacts are inaudible through a club system but waveform detail is slightly reduced.
- MP3 128kbps — avoid if possible. Audible on a large system and waveform analysis is less precise.
Before You Start: Confirm Your Rights
Only download tracks you have the legal right to copy. This typically means:
- Tracks you uploaded to SoundCloud yourself
- Tracks released under a Creative Commons licence that permits copying
- Tracks where the artist has explicitly enabled free downloads on SoundCloud
- Tracks for which you hold a licence (e.g. Beatport, Bandcamp purchase)
Downloading commercially released tracks without permission is not a permitted use of this tool.
Step-by-Step: Download Your SoundCloud Track
- Open SoundCloud and navigate to the track you want.
- Copy the full URL from your browser address bar (e.g.
https://soundcloud.com/yourname/your-track). - Go to sneakydl.com and sign in.
- Paste the URL into the download field.
- Select your format — WAV or FLAC for Rekordbox, or MP3 320kbps if you prefer smaller files. (WAV and FLAC require a Pro subscription.)
- Click Download and save the file to a folder you use for DJ tracks.
Importing into Rekordbox
- Open Rekordbox.
- Go to File › Import Track or simply drag the downloaded file into the Collection panel.
- Rekordbox will automatically analyse the track for BPM, key, and waveform.
- Once analysis is complete, the track appears in your collection and is ready to add to crates or playlists.
Downloads/SoundCloud folder and point Rekordbox's watched folders at it. Any new file you save there will be picked up by Rekordbox automatically.Exporting to a USB Drive for CDJ Performance
Once the track is analysed in Rekordbox:
- Add it to the playlist you want to export.
- Connect your USB drive and go to Devices in the left panel.
- Drag the playlist onto your USB device icon and click Sync.
- Eject the drive safely before removing it.
Common Issues
Track shows as "unanalysed" in Rekordbox
Right-click the track and select Analyse Tracks. This can happen if Rekordbox was busy when you first imported the file.
File won't import — "unsupported format"
Rekordbox supports MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF, and FLAC. If you downloaded an M4A file, convert it to WAV using a free tool like foobar2000 or ffmpeg.
BPM detected incorrectly
Rekordbox sometimes misreads half-time or double-time. Right-click the track › Beat Grid Edit to correct it manually, or re-analyse with a different sensitivity setting in Rekordbox preferences.
